I don’t often write music for myself. I’ve been lucky enough to be kept busy writing music for other projects, and with the schedules involved there’s not much time or energy to do anything extra-curricular. In 2019 I had a bit of a break between projects, and found out that the London-based Echéa Quartet was going to be touring Canada. A long-time family friend, Aliayta Foon-Dancoes, is a violinist with the group, and so I reached out to her to see if I could interest them in working together. They agreed, and so I set out to write something for them to play.

And so, on a rainy day a few months later, we all arrived at The Armoury, and this is the result.
